Communities in an individualized world

The modern world will have us believe that we live as individuals. It is easy to think that it is so with the way many people live. Let me exaggerate, but not that much: We don't know our neighbors, We are anonymous on the internet, we compete with our colleagues and we are targeted individually by ever more precise advertisements based on our individualized profiles. The elderly get more lonely and so do the young, We our stuck in our phones where we try to show other people (who are stuck in their phone) that we have a social life.
